FRENCH BOSSA NOVA

[ DOCUMENTARY ]

Brazilian and French music lived a love affair in the sixties, with the sultry rhythms of Bossa Nova taking over Paris. More recently, the band Nouvelle Vague sold millions of albums of its amazing mixture of New Wave songs re-recorded in Bossa Nova style. Singer Camille and producer Marc Collins talk about their love for Brazilian music.

The segment is part of Guto Barra and Tatiana Issa’s ongoing investigation into the cross-pollination between Brazilian and French cultures. The documentary series has interviewed iconic names from 19060’s French music, like Pierre Barouh, as well as contemporary artists like Mayra Andrade, Françoise Hardy and the producer Dimitry From Paris, as well as Brazilian stars like Marisa Monte, Caetano Veloso and others.
